Studio Terms & Conditions

Welcome to James Shaw Pilates. These terms apply when you book or attend a class, private session, duet session, workshop, membership or package with us.

By making a booking or using our services, you agree to the following terms.

1. Bookings and Availability

All classes and sessions are subject to availability.

We may make reasonable changes to the timetable, teachers, rooms or services at any time. If we cancel a booking, any credit used will be returned or an alternative offered where possible.

Prices are shown on our website, at checkout, or in your Momence account. Prices may change for future purchases, but anything already purchased will remain valid on the terms confirmed at the time of booking.

2. Packages and Validity

Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase, package validity is as follows:

• Single Session — 1 month

• Intro Pack — 1 month

• 6 Session Pack — 3 months

• 12 Session Pack — 6 months

Unused sessions expire at the end of the relevant validity period. Extensions may be considered where illness, injury, pregnancy or another reasonable circumstance has prevented use.

Packages and credits are personal to you and cannot be shared or transferred unless agreed by us in writing.

3. Cancellations and Refunds

Group classes may be cancelled or rescheduled without charge up to 24 hours before the class starts. If you cancel less than 24 hours before, or do not attend, the class will be treated as used.

Private and duet sessions also require at least 24 hours’ notice unless different terms were shown at the time of booking. Late cancellations or non-attendance will be charged in full or treated as used.

Class passes, packages and memberships are generally non-refundable once purchased, except where the law gives you a right to cancel, where we are unable to provide the service, or where we agree otherwise in exceptional circumstances.[Attachment]

If you purchase online, you usually have a legal right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you cancel before receiving any services, we will refund you in full. If you asked us to begin the service during that period, we may deduct a proportionate amount for services already provided.

4. Memberships

Memberships renew in line with the specific terms shown at the time of purchase.

If you wish to cancel a membership, please email info@jamesshawpilates.com. Where a membership has its own specific cancellation terms, those terms will apply in addition to this page.

5. Health and Safety

Pilates is a physical activity and you are responsible for ensuring that you are fit to participate.

Before your first class or session, you may be asked to complete a health form. You must provide accurate information about any injury, medical condition, surgery, pregnancy, post-natal recovery or medication that may affect your participation, and let us know if anything changes.

If you are pregnant, post-natal, recovering from injury or surgery, or managing a health condition, you should seek advice from your GP, consultant, midwife or other appropriate clinician before attending.

Please follow your teacher’s instructions at all times and stop if something feels wrong or painful. Our teachers may adapt, limit or refuse exercises where they consider this necessary for your safety.

If you are unwell, please do not attend the studio.

6. Studio Etiquette

Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes before your class or session. If the door is closed because a private session is in progress, please knock and wait.

Please wear suitable clothing for movement. Grip socks or bare feet may be required depending on the session.[Attachment]

All equipment must be used only as instructed by your teacher. If you notice any damaged or faulty equipment, please let a member of the team know straight away.

Please silence your phone during class and help us maintain a calm, respectful environment for everyone in the studio.

7. Personal Belongings

You are responsible for your own personal belongings while at the studio.

James Shaw Pilates is not responsible for loss of or damage to personal property left unattended, except where caused by our negligence.

8. Filming, Photography and Privacy

We may occasionally photograph or film in the studio for website or social media use. Where this is happening, we will let clients know, and you may ask not to be included.

If we would like to feature you specifically in marketing, testimonials or promotional content, we will ask for your separate consent first. Saying no will not affect your booking or membership.

We handle personal information, including health information, in line with our privacy policy and applicable UK data protection law.

9. Liability

We provide our classes and services with reasonable care and skill, keep our equipment appropriately maintained, and take reasonable steps to keep the studio environment safe.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Except where the law does not allow it, we are not responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable or for personal property left unattended in the studio.

10. Changes, Closures and Complaints

We may make reasonable changes to class times, teachers, services and locations.

If a studio closes temporarily for more than seven consecutive days, we will either extend the relevant membership or offer a proportionate refund where appropriate. If a studio permanently closes, or relocates in a way that materially affects access, affected clients may cancel and receive a refund for any unused paid period.[Attachment]

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at info@jamesshawpilates.com. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 14 days and provide a full response within 30 days.
