About Our Studio
Located in the heart of Fitzrovia, our London studio brings the James Shaw Pilates experience to Central London. A space dedicated to authentic Classical Pilates, it offers exceptional teaching in an intimate setting, just moments from London's major transport links.
We don't simply teach exercises; we teach people to understand, trust, and reconnect with their bodies. Through the original Contrology method, we help our clients build strength, flexibility, and control that enhances the way they move, feel, and live.
Whether you're joining us for Mat, Reformer, Tower, Mixed Apparatus, private sessions, or teacher training, you'll experience the same commitment to excellence, education, and personal progression that defines James Shaw Pilates.
What We Offer
-
Our small group Reformer and Tower classes introduce the original Classical Pilates method through spring resistance and purposeful movement. With just four clients per class, you'll build strength, flexibility, control, and confidence while receiving expert guidance tailored to your level.
Whether you're just beginning or continuing your Pilates journey, every session is designed to help you move better, feel stronger, and reconnect with your body.
-
Experience the foundation of the Classical Pilates method through our small group Mat classes. Following the traditional sequences developed by Joseph Pilates, each class is designed to help you build strength, flexibility, control, and a deeper connection to your body through precise, purposeful movement.
With expert guidance and individual attention in every class, you'll learn to move with greater awareness and confidence while developing the skills that support lifelong strength, posture, and wellbeing.
Suitable for all levels, our Mat classes provide the perfect foundation for both new and experienced practitioners.
-
Our Mixed Apparatus classes offer the full Classical Pilates studio experience, combining the Reformer, Tower, Chair, Barrels, and other traditional apparatus in a dynamic circuit-style class. Designed for experienced students, these sessions challenge your strength, coordination, control, and understanding of the Classical method while deepening your practice across the complete Pilates system.
With small class sizes and expert instruction, you'll continue to refine your technique, improve transitions, and develop confidence on every piece of apparatus.
We recommend completing our Beginner and Intermediate Mat, Reformer, and Tower classes before joining Mixed Apparatus to ensure you have a strong foundation in the Classical repertoire.
-
Our Private Pilates sessions provide a fully personalised approach, tailored to your individual goals, experience, and movement needs. Whether you're recovering from injury, managing a specific condition, new to Pilates, or simply looking to deepen your practice, each session is designed around you.
Working one-to-one with one of our expert instructors, you'll receive individual guidance, hands-on support, and a programme that evolves with your progress.
Private sessions are ideal for building confidence, developing technique, addressing complex movement patterns, or complementing your regular Mat and apparatus classes with more focused, in-depth tuition.
-
Our Duet Pilates sessions offer all the benefits of private tuition while sharing the experience with a friend, partner, or family member. Working together in a dedicated session, you'll receive expert guidance tailored to both of your individual needs, making it an enjoyable and motivating way to practise Pilates.
Duet sessions are ideal for those who enjoy training together, want the accountability of a workout partner, or are looking to share the cost of a private session without compromising on the quality of instruction.
Whether you're both new to Pilates or looking to deepen your practice, each session is designed to help you move with greater strength, confidence, and control.
