2 Day - Pilates Pre & Post Natal Workshop

This workshop is designed for Pilates & movement teachers who want to feel confident, informed and truly empowered when supporting clients through pregnancy and beyond. Whether you already have bumps and babies in your classes or you’re just beginning to step into this rewarding area, Caroline will guide you through the science, the nuance and the practical magic of teaching pre and postnatal Pilates with insight, compassion and creativity.

Who this course is for

This training is for qualified Pilates teachers and movement practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of how to safely support clients during pregnancy and the postnatal period.

Whether you already work with pre/postnatal clients or you’re building confidence to begin, this course provides the evidence-based foundations, safety considerations and practical teaching skills required to work within the Level 3 scope of practice.

What you’ll learn

Understanding the Body

• Physiological, postural and musculoskeletal changes during pregnancy

• Hormonal influences and their impact on strength, flexibility and stability

• The role of the pelvic floor + abdominal wall during pregnancy and recovery

• The postnatal healing timeline including birth types and the “fourth trimester”

Screening & Safety

• Completing a pre/postnatal health and activity screening aligned with Level 3 standards

• Identifying contraindications and when to refer to a clinician

• Knowing when and how to modify or pause exercise

Practical Pilates Application

• Adapting Pilates exercises across all trimesters for comfort and safety

• Postnatal programming: rebuilding function, breath, core and pelvic floor synergy

• Working with diastasis recti, pelvic pain, back pain and fatigue patterns

• Small equipment adaptations to support alignment, effort and ease

• Clear cueing and class language that supports agency and body awareness

Class Planning & Progression

• Structuring 1:1 sessions and group classes for prenatal and postnatal clients

• Understanding which movements, positions and loads require modification (e.g. supine, deep flexion, high load)

• How and when to safely reintroduce stronger abdominal and full-body work post birth
